Description

The Infamous 5

What are the top five most common street attacks?

The Hard Target Self Defence Academy Instructors have over 30 years combined experience in the self-protection and self defence industry. They have heard many stories from victims over the years. With particular focus on common street attacks, they’ve studied and researched many of these incidences, interviewed both victims and attackers and have come to the conclusion that the top five most common street attacks are as follows:

1. Sucker Punch
2. Push to Chest
3. Hair Pull
4. Headlock
5. Throat Grab

So how does one defend themselves from such attacks?
The swinging punch to head is coming at you, what do you do now? You’re being dragged backwards by the hair or hood, how do you defend against that? The headlock is on and you’re struggling, how do you get out of it?  The Hard Target Self Defence Academy will present a seminar that will teach and demonstrate defence techniques against each one of these 5 most common street attacks.
This course ticks all of the boxes for those who are time poor and don’t have time to train on a regular basis at the academy. It’s good to have the skills and never have to use them, then not having them at all and needing them at some point in your life.
*The course is open to everyone. No martial arts/self-defence experience is necessary.

The teaching curriculum on this one day course will also largely focus on skills and tactics to heighten awareness and to avoid these attacks happening in the first place, other topics covered:

Self Defence & The law in Ireland.
Understanding anomalies in human behaviour.
Recognising environmental anomalies.
Understanding pre-conflict body language.
PLUS an illustrated manual will be provided for you to take home; with contents supplementing and supporting the course teachings.

FAQ’s
I’m not that fit, will I be able for the course?
Yes. The Hard Target Self Defence Academy is for all ages. It is not about fitness levels; it’s about being able to recognise signs, signals, red flags, act on them rationally and retreat to safety. However, sometimes a situation occurs/erupts within seconds and you’ll need to act in self-defence. What you are looking for is a window of opportunity to escape. These defence techniques will teach you how to react in such situations thus maximising the opportunity to remove yourself from a continued attack. Note: most street fights last less than 10 seconds; the skills you will learn on this course will allow you to create that window of opportunity to escape in less than 10 seconds!

I’d like to attend the course, but I’m feeling apprehensive & scared?
Feeling scared is very normal. Everyone gets scared! The Hard Target Self Defence Academy is a place for learning, self-empowerment, integrity & respect. Attendees learn the techniques at their own pace. All of our instructors are warm, friendly and welcoming. They will take time to clearly explain the associated side effects of adrenalin release and how to control your fears. This includes the fears associated with the anticipation of conflicts.

What about Parking?
Yes, we have plenty of free parking at the academy.

Changing facilities?
Yes, we have shower and changing facilities.

All participants are presented with a certificate on completion, from Head Coach and Founder, Aidan Carroll.
